Mark Penfold, Chief Executive Officer

Mark Penfold is the Chief Executive Officer of the EMPR Group. Born and raised in Hertfordshire, England, Mark moved to New Zealand in his early 20’s to expand his experience in the IT industry.

As an engineering professional, he spent many successful years at Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC), Compaq and finally Hewlett-Packard in the South Pacific and Asia Pacific Regions, progressing to director level in the IT Services and Solutions sector.

After 20 years of working in corporate IT, Mark made the decision to join the EMPR Group. At EMPR, he saw a medium sized organization, innovative and highly successful, delivering significant year on year growth. With a foundation of fantastic customer service and a real passion to be the best, this was a company where he could really make a positive impact by applying his passion for customer services and  corporate experience.

Mark started at EMPR Group as the New Zealand Country Manager and quickly progressed within the company, moving to the role of Chief Commercial Officer and then, Chief Executive Officer.

He has been with EMPR for over 4 years now and has seen double growth figures with new offices in Melbourne and Brisbane Australia, and Boise USA.

In his spare time, Mark likes to travel, and spend time with his family.

Stephen Taylor, Chief Operating Officer

Stephen joined EMPR in April of 2011 working from our New Zealand office as the New Zealand Sales Manager. Within a very short time it was decided to move Stephen into a more operational role within the global company, due to his years of experience within the IT industry sector.

Subsequently Stephen moved over from New Zealand to Australia in October 2013 as the Chief Operations Officer. This role lends itself very well to his meticulous nature and desire for operational excellence.

Stephen originally moved from the United Kingdom over to New Zealand in 1987 with his wife. He has two very successful girls in marketing and retail. Stephen has over 25 years’ experience in the IT industry and even completed his apprenticeship on computer controlled machinery. He has been very successful in a sales and marketing role, holding down positions such as Sales Manager both local and national, as well as senior sales consultant, selling 3 dimensional design solutions. He has also won a number of sales awards for high achievement. Stephen’s wealth of knowledge for business gained throughout his working life, have been testament to his appointment as Chief Operating Officer.

Bryce McIntosh, Chief Commercial Officer

Early in his career, Bryce started working for the Digital Equipment Group as the Inhouse Engineer and Technician. By visiting and spending time with his customers, Bryce found himself more and more involved in his customers businesses, helping them find solutions to improve their business processes and efficiencies by offering upgrade paths and solutions. After 1.5 years, Bryce decided to transition into a more Sales focused role as he felt that is where his skills would be best utilized and took on the role at Compaq as a Spares Parts Account Manager.

Within Sales, Bryce found his true passion, to understand his customer’s needs and build customised solutions to meet there current and future needs. Bryce was responsible for managing multiple customer segments including VAR’s Resellers, Government and Corporate, supplying pre and post sales management for DEC and Compaq parts for Notebooks, Desktops, Intel Server and Alpha Servers.

One of his major accounts managed was EMPR Group. Working very closely with EMPR, Bryce saw a lot of potential within this small but innovative company. He started to build a real connection with the EMPR team and in no time at all, found himself working for EMPR in the year 2000.

Bryce became the go to salesman at the early stages of EMPR, he took care of everything from an end to end basis, from Account Management, Purchasing to Picking & Packing. He spent many successful years within the Sales environment which he was then acknowledged for by being promoted to the EMPR Group Sales Manager. Bryce’s core focus as Sales Manager was to develop the company’s relationship with key partners while also developing strategic growth initiatives across all market segments for all brands. In 2014, as a result of his continued success,  Bryce was promoted to the role of Chief Commercial Officer.

Bill Shew, External Chief Financial Officer, Non Executive Board Member

Bill began providing advice and services to EMPR Group in 2009. He is the Founder and Director of Whitehawk Advisors, a boutique Strategic, Tax and Wealth advisor practice.

Bill has a passion for helping customers achieve their financial goals by applying his practical financial and business management skills with his in-depth technical expertise.

Prior to establishing Whitehawk Advisors, Bill was a Partner with Grant Thornton Privately Held Business Services. As well as servicing a diverse client base Bill’s leadership roles in the practice included Finance Director, Service Line Leader, Head of Wealth Management, Head of the Professional Services industry team in NSW, and Head of the National Tax Alliance with a “Big 4” Bank.

Bill works with Privately Held Business Owners such as EMPR Group, to help them realise their goals by assisting them to strategically grow their business in preparation for a successful exit.

Bill is regularly quoted in the financial press on Business Owner Issues and has been interviewed on Sky News, the ABC and various other media.

Sandra Rajendra,  Group Human Resources Manager

Sandra completed her Masters in Business Administration at the University of Adelaide in 2001 and brings over 15 years of HR Generalist Management Experience to EMPR Group. Prior to joining EMPR, Sandra landed roles as a Human Resources manager at a number of reputable organisations such as DSpace, De’Longhi & Kenwood, Lend Lease and Phillips Lighting.

Sandra joined EMPR because she saw the possibilities and opportunities within a growing multi-national company – she saw EMPR as an organisation committed to HR best practice for the mutual benefit of the business and its employees. Sandra has managed EMPR through cultural and corporate change, implemented never before seen HR initiatives, as well as coordinates HR activities to match the operational needs and strategies of EMPR.

Outside of work Sandra is kept busy by her 3 young kids and volunteers at the local school.
